Ok so this long overdue but here it is...
Let me begin with saying that the window seat is not always the best seat in the world. Yeah you get to sleep against it, but when you have to pee you either need to make the other two people move, or just hold it until they go. Let me tell you, on a 13 hour flight, I was practically begging them to drink more jsut so they would hurry up and get up to pee.
Anyways, I arrived here to wonderully cliched London weather. It was gray, cold and damp. Good thing I brought my galoshes! But I wish I had brought more warmer clothes. My room could double as a refrigerator at night. I am very luckily also near the fire escape area of the room that has a wonderful cold draft at night. I think I am catching Pnemumonia.
On to my roomate. She is nice, but defintely not someone I could hang out with on a daily basis. Shes cool to live with but thats where it ends. She is from Chicago, a theatre geek, 21 and engaged. It took all my willpower not to give her my very frank thoughts on marriage. I walked in with Rachel's very good advice in mind, "Don't be a bitch." I am really working hard on that. To tell you the truth I have not made very many friends because everyone came here with a friend. I feel like I am living in a sorority house and I am the odd one out. I have made one friend and ironically her name is Rachel, we are the only two with natural dark hair. Already we stand out. We are also the two ONLY ethnic people here. She is Chinese, I am Indian, everyone else is from middle America and very very white.
Rachel and I have been exploring the city by tube and walking so much during the day. We just went to the victoria and albert museum, and the famous Harrod's department store where I splurged on some chocolate. I am really enjoying just being able to get lost in the city and try to find my way back. I have found so many wonderful cheap places to eat and hang while writting diligently in my journal. I don't want to forget anything!
Also really annoying about these girls, were in London and they are getting coffee from Starbucks! Like we don't get enough of Starbucks back home.
This weekend:
I am going to the Sherwood Forrest in Nottingham! This is where all the Robin Hood stories went down! I can not wait!
